The types of graphic charts and their embellishments will depend upon our consultation with the client and what their needs and expectations are. Each can generally be produced in B&W or in variations of colour.
The following is a list of all charts and reports available that we produce for clients using Family Tree Maker (FTM) or Family ChartMasters software, along with their FTM descriptions:
- Pedigree Chart (Working and Decorative)
- The Pedigree Chart is the most commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors. The pedigree chart can be formatted to print within a regular-sized page or it can span across many pages to create a family tree poster.
- Working Pedigree Charts are in B&W and are mainly meant for you and ourselves during the research phase for consultation.
Decorative Pedigree Charts can be customized in a multitude of ways and are in colour of the client’s choosing, as well as the information that they wish to show. They can be embellished in many ways depending upon our consultation with the client and what impression that they want to give the reader or the courtroom.
- Descendant Chart
- The Descendant Chart is a graphical display of an individual’s descendants with the primary individual at the top of the page and his or her descendants below.
- Relationship Chart
- The Relationship Chart presents a graphical display of one person’s relationship to another including the relationship of each person in between. Direct-line ancestors and descendants are shown vertically with the common relative at the top.
- Hourglass Chart
- The Hourglass Chart is a graphical display of an individual’s ancestors and descendants with the primary individual’s ancestors above and the descendants below.
- Vertical Pedigree Chart
- The Vertical Pedigree Chart is a commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors.
- Horizontal Hourglass Chart
- The Horizontal Hourglass Chart is a graphical display of an individual’s ancestors, descendants, siblings, and spouses with the ancestors of the primary individual extending to the right and the descendants on the left.
- Bow Tie Chart
- The Bow Tie Chart is a commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors with the paternal line extending to the left and the maternal line to the right.
- 180 Fan Chart
- The 180 Degree Fan Chart is a commonly used format for displaying a family tree and displays a graphic representation of a person’s direct-line ancestors laid out with the nodes rotated in a 180-degree arching fan.
- Family Tree Chart
- The Family Tree Chart is a new graphical format for displaying a person’s direct-line ancestors. The individual nodes are not rotated.
- Extended Family Chart
- The Extended Family Chart shows generations of individuals aligned horizontally according to the number of ancestor and descendant generations specified up to all of the people in your tree.
In the course of our research other charts and reports may be created for working purposes to clients, such as Family Group Charts, Kinship Reports, Individual and Marriage Reports, Place Reports, and Source Usage Reports.
